WHAT IS HMP ABOUT?

The project is a Hull City Council funded project based at the Rights & Participation Project (RAPP). The project is funded to deliver programmes within Hull to young people from a range of agencies, schools etc. Additionally, the Hull Mentoring Project also runs the 'Mentoring with Conviction' group at HMP Hull (see link for further info)

MISSION STATEMENT:

“To educate and inform young people about the reality and impact of an offending lifestyle, creatively utilising first hand experience to facilitate more informed and positive lifestyle choices.”

PROJECT AIMS:

The Hull Mentoring Project utilises first hand experience to:

• Stop young people from becoming further invovled in anti social and offending behaviour.

• Dispel myths, challenge stereotypes and educate and inform young people around the realities of crime and offending lifestyles and the impact upon self, families and others.

• Enable those at increasing risk of social exclusion to make more informed positive lifestyle choices.

WHERE WE WORK

The project works within Hull Schools, Pupil Referral Units, Youth Offending Team, Challenge & Support Team, Anti Social Behaviour Team, Community Centre's, HMP Hull, HMP Wolds etc. (see references for more detail)
